The Organising Committee is the organ in charge of financing the operation. The Committee's role also includes setting up the Calendar of Events, which will spotlight the excellences of Piemonte, promote the culture of Italian design and develop international networks in the field of design.

The Torino 2008 World Design Capital Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee's role is that of consultant, to stimulate the work of the Organising Committee, pinpoint the guidelines of the project, and inform the operational structure of the most vital themes in contemporary design.
It is composed of:
- Gillo Dorfles (Italy)
artist, theoretician, essayist. Promoter of Movimento Arte Concreta (MAC) and ADI;
- Guta Moura Guedes (Portugal)
President of Experimenta, the organising body of Lisbon's Biennale ExperimentaDesign ;
- Michael Thomson (Great Britain)
Founder of Design Connect in 1995 in London, fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and President Elect of BEDA (The Bureau of European Design Associations);
- Enrico Morteo (Italy)
Historian and critic of design. The author and host of radio and television programs, he has collaborated with many publications dealing with design and architecture.
